Known as Lily Airways, the eatery that once operated out of a retired Boeing 737 is being dismantled in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province. The establishment, apparently geared for people who like dining out but prefer the experience of eating on a plane, opened in September 2016 to a rash of internet fame. Owner Li Yang spent $5 million to buy and transform the aircraft into a dining room. Billed as China’s first airplane-themed restaurant, Lily Airways closed in 2020 after the start of the Covid pandemic. According to local media, Li plans to put the aircraft on display at an aviation museum that he plans to build in the future
